Off-roading on the Tong Site

Remind me never to book my holidays at the same time and place as Mark Askew the organiser of the JeepFest events.  Once again the event followed days of torrential rain and floods across the country.  The rain eventually held off for the weekend but left the entire site including the show arena looking a WW1 battlefield.  Once again Tong lived up to its reputation, lots of steep climbs, masses of mud, loads of water plus the newly constructed Rubi-tong trail.

Those camping ran the risk of being wash away!

The one thing you can always find jeeps playing in is a muddy water hole!

although it wasn't just the big kids that it attracted.

Unless you had big toys it was best to avoid some of the bigger mud holes.

Crossing the lake was the first obstical, you then climbed the hill
through the woods........

........ which was handy for draining the water out!

Once across there was no going back.

One of our Dutch friends.. not stuck - just not going forwards..........

just a little help from Warn and their off..........

Yours truly giving my TJ its first off-road try out..........

...........and finding out just how stiff and inflexible the suspensions is.
