Once an off-roaders
got the bug there's no stopping them. So even when we
got to go on holiday to Dubai we've got to get our daily
fix. No Jeeps to rent but we were able to rent this
monster Toyota Landcruser with some neat heavy duty bumpers.
Unfortunately,
you can't rent off-roaders without a local guide, which when
you consider that all sand dunes look the same to me, was
probably a good move. Still we scared him silly - all he
kept saying was No! No! These hills never look as steep in
photo's but believe me when you take them at speed they were.
We were told
that the sand dunes went on for over 200 miles - well the got
oil they can't expect greenery as well!
With the
temp up in the 100's I'd hate to run out of gas and have to
walk!
Hay, but
even in the desert us Brits just have to find some water,
after all you can't
have a day's off-roading without water and we found this lot
just waiting for us!
This almost
dry river bed seamed to attract every off-road vehicle for
miles.....
.....and
provided a quick and clean way of getting rid of all that
sand.......
......and
just to make sure we had to go thorough a couple of times.....
leaving her
nice and clean at the end of a days off-roading - who's ever
heard of such a thing!
