Having
spent the best part of a year restoring my 1980 CJ-7 it was
time to take it out and play along some of Surreys green
lanes. Whilst they're fairly tame they gave me a chance
to assess what modifications would be required to set her up
for some serious stuff.

Running on
crappy 31" remolds
(rather than the planed 33") had the gearing fairly low
but even then, the engine braking through the auto gearbox was
almost non existent and would need looking at.

The
suspension was an old Pro Comp 2.5" lift which was as
stiff as a board.......

........and
hardly moved giving a horrible ride on all but level ground

A good shot
of the DIY half doors. These were cut down's from the
original steel doors. Although that bull bar will have to
go......

As with
most trips involving a CJ - it's only a matter of time before
someone ends up breaking down!!

So why not
both of them!!!!
